For our 30th Fashion Lesson, who better than this discreet Brussels designer, known for his mixing of dress codes?
Since 2000, JEANPAULKNOTT is a fashion label for men and women who appreciate quality, originality and exclusivity. In recent years, the museum has acquired around fifty of his silhouettes. This is a good opportunity to take a closer look at his vision of fashion past, present and future. An intimate conversation with Caroline Esgain through which the designer reveals something about himself.
Born in Belgium in 1966, Jean-Paul Knott grew up in New York wherehe studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He worked for Krizia, Louis Féraud, and Cerruti, followed notably by Rive Gauche by Saint Laurent, which he headed up for 11 years. Knott also created costumes for Maurice Béjart’s ballets. The designer then settled in Brussels and launched his own brand. His designs explore the line, marked by an ethereal nonchalance and an intangible elegance.
Caroline Esgain, Conservator at the Fashion & Lace Museum, has been passionate about Brussels lace since she arrived at the museum. She quickly took an interest in Brussels fashion, developing the Leçons de Mode (Fashion Lessons) and providing a platform for the capital’s designers. This art historian is unmatched in her ability to evoke and defend our homegrown designers and their internationally recognized know-how.

- The lecture will be followed by a visit to the exhibition Kidorama and a cocktail.
