For the first time, the Fashion & Lace Museum, the Horta Museum and the Museum of Ixelles join forces to bring a dazzling era back to life. Dresses and fans from our museum, and paintings from the Museum of Ixelles will be featured within the sumptuous décor of the Horta House. An unprecedented encounter to discover from 15.11.23 to 14.01.24 at the Horta Museum.
We tend to know Art Nouveau mainly via architecture, but it is also a wider artistic current. On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Art Nouveau, the Horta Museum is welcoming 9 exceptional objects from the Fashion & Lace Museum and the Museum of Ixelles.
Far from attempting to be a historical reconstruction, this capsule exhibit offers specific glimpses into the clothing style and representations of the period. In a setting beyond compare, the dresses and fans will engage in dialogue with female portraits and landscapes that evoke the splendours of nature. They were an indispensable source of inspiration for painters, tailors/dressmakers and architects of the Art Nouveau style. Dive into the atmosphere of a total aesthetic.
