2006: Unique innovations at The Fashion & Lace Museum

In February 2006, a new exhibition was held at The Brussels Fashion & Lace Museum. It offered a panorama on the fashion history from the 18th to 20th century and showcased the latest acquisitions made by the Museum during public sales, from antique dealers or private individuals.

For a few months, visitors could discover branded dresses and various types of fashion accessories. It included many remarkable and sometimes astonishing items: a Givenchy cocktail dress that once belonged to Princess Liliane de Réthy, several embroidered waistcoats and men’s suits from the 18th century, a copy of one of the last uniforms designed by Olivier Strelli for Sabena, woollen bathing suits from the 1930s, sports accessories as well as royal handkerchiefs used by queens.
