Considered the manifesto of Brussels lace, benediction veils are being exhibited in this first season. The items combine the various characteristics of Brussels lace:
- motifs and base in bobbin lace with lace inserts
- application lace
- use of relief
Traditionally designed as benediction veils, these items are quite rare. There are around fifteen in the whole world. Researchers disagree on the use of the veils. The display of these four examples makes it possible to put forward some hypotheses about their use: for a wedding, the profession of beguines or a Eucharistic celebration?
