Folklorissimo at the Fashion & Lace Museum

On the occasion of Folklorissimo on the Grand-Place, the Fashion & Lace Museum invites you to discover its collections from a new perspective!

Lace-making Workshop
Try your hand at bobbin lace-making with Yole Devaux, former head of the Tapestry & Textile Arts programme at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels.
By handling the bobbins, you will learn the three basic stitches of this traditional technique and create your own small piece of lace. A craft that is more accessible than it may seem! Who knows, you might even discover a new passion!

Fashion at a Turning Point in History: A Costumed Tour
Immerse yourself in the museum’s historic collections! Led by our guide in period costume, explore the major transformation of fashion between 1790 and 1810.

Through the historical silhouettes featured in the exhibition Simplicities, Emmanuelle Nuncq takes you on a journey through the fashion of the 1790s to the 1810s. The opulent styles of the 18th century gave way to a more understated and comfortable elegance. Fashion reflected the profound political, social and economic changes of the era.
Thanks to her living history approach, Emmanuelle, dressed in period costume herself, brings this fascinating transition back to life.
