As part of the exhibition Glamour, 30s Fashion expo, Nele Bernheim, a doctoral student in the History and Science of Art at the University of Antwerp and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, reveals the remarkable story of the iconic Maison Norine. During this cultural encounter, she revisited Maison Norine’s collaborations with expressionists and surrealists. René Magritte was the main illustrator.

Many people are unaware of the fact that contemporary Belgian fashion has a forebear: the Maison Norine. Run by the charismatic couple Honorine and Paul-Gustave Van Hecke, this Couture House, founded in 1915, lay at the crossroads of the most innovative artistic currents in Europe.
