During a conference, which was hosted as part of the exhibition Seventies, whatever you like and MADIFESTO, Didier Grumbach, president of the French Federation of Couture, Ready-to-Wear for Dressmakers and Fashion Designers focused on the subject of ready-to-wear.
What topics were discussed during the conference “The seventies or ready-to-wear conquers all”?
For the first time in history, the street dictated fashion trends. Anything was possible or almost. Creators shook up conformism in order to reinvent the notion of elegance. Young people brimming with energy completely overturned the dress codes.
Young designers were given the opportunity to produce their collections. They were supported by Creators & Industrialists, a company created by Didier Grumbach in 1971. This organisation was also responsible for promotion, coordination and distribution.
